By João Panoni Facebook @panonijoao and Instagram @panonijoao Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek defeated Tunisian star Ons Jabeur in straight sets in the US Open women's singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. This marks Swiatek's third career grand slam title, and her first outside of the French Open, which she won in 2020 and 2022. Swiatek cements her place atop the world rankings with the 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Jabeur, who is ranked fifth in the world. As she has been doing the last several months, Swiatek wore a ribbon on her hat in support of Ukraine during the final Saturday. The 21-year-old phenom reached three major semifinals this season -- at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and US Open -- winning twice.
